Course topics are focused on the motion and flow phenomena of soft materials such as colloids, polymers, anisotropic particles, and capsules. This course will explore the non-equilibrium dynamics of Brownian and non-Brownian particles in flow, including a quantitative treatment of stress development in colloidal suspensions and polymer solutions, in order to gain a quantitative understanding of hydrodynamics in soft materials.
