Examination of computational aspects of biology with an emphasis on the relationships between biological questions and their recastings as mathematical or logical problems. Topics are drawn from biochemistry, genetics, molecular sequence analysis, and molecular structure.

3 undergraduate hours. 3 graduate hours. Prerequisite: MCB 250, MCB 252, MCB 354, and calculus I (MATH 220 or MATH 221), and calculus II (MATH 231) or biostatistics (STAT 212); or consent of instructor.
