This virtual field course uses online learning tools to provide students with the understanding and skills needed to apply the science of physical geography to real-world watershed management issues. To this end, the course bridges knowledge derived from the disciplines of geomorphology, hydrology, and ecology with basic concepts of environmental management. The content focuses primarily on conservation and restoration of rivers and their watersheds, as well as the assessment and management of natural hazards such as floods and landslides. A social context for these themes will also be explored.
