Introduction to the field of synthetic biology. Engineering applications of biomolecular systems and cellular capabilities for a variety of application biological background of gene regulation, experimental methods for circuit engineering, and mathematical basis for circuit modeling. Examples in biofuels, biomedicine, and other areas will be discussed.
3 undergraduate hours. 4 graduate hours. Prerequisite: BIOE 206 or MCB 252; and MATH 285.
