Online. For better or worse, we don’t just look at the world on screen; it’s how we look at life! We start from the premise that human visual perception is keyed to novelty and that sustained attention is therefore an ability that requires effort to develop. This enhanced ability to observe and understand visual imagery is a skill employed in all fields and walks of life, but in ART 100, it is used to consider a range of visual images and environments, from traditional fine arts in museum settings to the places and spaces of everyday life. We spend a large amount of time [re]considering online media sources and apps in the context of portable screen culture and begin to analyze the tsunami of information available at our fingertips.
