Over the semester, students will learn how Escape Rooms relate to Theatre while originating an Escape Room storyline, designing room aesthetics, developing layered puzzles, and creating the audience’s pre- and post-game experience. As this course meets with Informatics course INFO 450-ERG, the FAA students will act as project managers to the Informatics students who will manufacture electronics hardware, code libraries and interface design concepts to create a series of interconnected internet of things devices to control or manipulate puzzles and progress through the room. The course will culminate in a fully produced Escape Room presented to UIUC faculty, staff, and students. Restriction(s): Restricted to Fine & Applied Arts.

It will be comprised of attending events at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in which the artists are collaborating to create new work. Classwork will include research about the artists and subject matter, interacting with the artists, and reflecting on the different paradigms available to artists in devising work. Restriction(s): Not intended for students with Freshman or Sophomore class standing.
