This course is designed to enhance student perspectives, understanding, positions and participation in society and to their respective fields as the third industrial revolution unfolds. To critically participate in the multidisciplinary digital revolution, there are critical considerations to be made in how we can harness technology for the social good and ways that social and behavioral sciences can meet society's call to action to ensure technology can be moral and/or profitable. As society's tech use increases, so should our competencies to evaluate, understand, oppose or accompany progress thereby increasing inclusion for all. By investigating and analyzing emerging technologies it is essential to consider application outcomes and potential ramifications. Doing so, poises students to serve as friction-creators in design-thinking that amplifies empathy and advocacy to ensure all forms of digital innovation are fair, ethical, and just. This class will meet face-to-face on the following days from 2:00-3:20 PM: TUE 08/25, THURSDAYS 9/17, 10/15, 11/19/2020.
