The topics under consideration in this course include: Introduction to numerical methods and the error analysis; Numerical methods for solving linear/nonlinear equations; Numerical methods for differentiation/integration; Numerical methods for solving ordinary differential equations; Numerical methods for solving constraint optimizations; Numerical methods for uncertainty analysis; Numerical methods for modeling of expensive black-box functions. Selective engineering applications of numerical methods in computational materials, computational fluid dynamics, control systems, reliability analysis, and engineering design optimization.
