Section Title:
Pandemic Media
Section Info:
Plagues and pandemics have featured prominently in media representations as story plots that complicate an already stratified world. From dark movie theaters and quiet living rooms, audiences have experienced the trials, conditions and complications of contagion as catastrophe. Within the mode of documentary, the crisis of pandemic is grounded in the realism of tragedy while fiction film allows access to our deepest fears with the social distance of the cinema screen. This course will be a contemporary overview of media representations that feature the context of pandemic as a site of investigation, inequity, fear, and renewal. Please note: This section will have synchronous (live) sessions
Restriction(s):
Restricted to Undergrad - Urbana-Champaign.
