THIS COURSE IS A REQUIREMENT FOR THE LLS GRADUATE MINOR. Topic: Reframing Latina/Latino Studies. The course aims to provide students with an overview of the emergence and latest critical approaches to the study of Latina/Latino Studies and Latinidad: Cultural Studies, Literary Studies, Critical Race Theory, Performance, Gender/Sexuality, Language and Ideology,and Border Theory. As in previous iterations of the course, and situated in textual critical discussions, students will be asked to question how Latina/Latino Studies intersects or disconnects from Chicana/Chicano Studies, Puerto Rican Studies, and Latin American Studies. Students will be encouraged to analyze how Latina/Latino Studies intersects with more traditional disciplines. The course emphasizes discussion, participation, presentation and workshopping of the students' own critical work.
