Section Info:
In this course you will enhance your ability to understand, speak and write Italian by reviewing and practicing the main grammatical structures. This work will be integrated with contemporary print, audio and visual materials that will provide a comprehensive analysis of the language in practice, and will increase your knowledge about Italian society, culture and history. You will complete daily exercises on structural analysis, read, watch and analyze fun texts and interpret how the meaning of these texts can change when you apply grammatical transformations, create your own oral and written stories, and discuss them in groups and individually with the instructor. This course will be online and synchronously taught, which means that we will be speaking and writing in Italian as a group very often. Although there is a meeting time shown in the class schedule, the final meeting time for the course will be decided as a group during the first day of classes in order to accommodate students who have a time conflict. In order to compensate for the lack of face to face meetings, and give you the necessary amount of exposure to Italian, there will be less written tests, and instead, more time to listening and watching Italian pieces, and more production tasks related to them. There will also be scheduled one to one online meetings with the instructor. (3 credit hours) Contact the instructor with any questions at derhemi@illinois.edu, or edaderhemi@gmail.com
