Section Title:
Composition of the Mantle
Section Info:
Composition of the mantle strongly affects the style and evolution of planet Earth. However, major questions remain on the nature of mantle composition and its origin. In this course, we will discuss the evolving views on this topic, including those based on geochemistry, geophysics and geodynamics. We will read representative papers on these lines of studies, discuss the different viewpoints, as well as design possible geodynamic tests. Instructor will present short lectures on each line of discussion, and students will lead weekly discussions.
