Data Analytics for Finance
Section Info:
This course aims to cover topics in data management and data analytics and to apply these techniques in solving problems in corporate finance and performing investment analysis. In the first part, students will gain practical skills in data exploration and data preparation, such as validating data, manipulating data with functions, combining tables, processing data iteratively, and restructuring tables. The second part of the course focuses on analyzing data. Linear regression, model selection, categorical data analysis, and time series regression will be discussed. Students will work extensively with financial data and apply data analytics tools in solving real-world problems, which include constructing and comparing financial ratios, security valuation, making investment decisions, bankruptcy prediction, and house price estimation.
