Section Title:
Smart Cities
Section Info:
Smart Cities provides students with an introduction to how European cities are tackling the world's most pressing problems through innovative technology, design and policy. Through an exploration of four case study cities (Rome, Vienna, Granada and Paris), students will examine innovations in sustainability throughout food systems, artificial intelligence, big data, urban planning and health care. Students will apply the tools of cultural analysis to the design of smart cities and will take a comparative approach, comparing the four European cities to each other as well as to the US urban context. This course will feature opportunities to engage with numerous experts from the fields that are advancing Smart Cities projects across Europe and in the U.S.
