Animals in Literature
Section Info:
Topic: A selection of literary texts from Greece. Rome and the subsequent Western tradition in which animals are protagonists or narrators. Readings from Plutarch, Ovid, Apuleius; Anna Sewell's Black Beauty; Jack London's Call of the Wild. We conclude by looking beyond the Western tradition to Native American texts, including Louise Erdrich's The Antelope Wife. Mix of asynchronous and synchronous meetings.
