Global Service Learning
Section Info:
Students will work with partners around the world to explore topics such as sustainable agriculture, citizenship, identity, stereotypes, history, cultural humility, and community development as they relate to service learning on the global and local levels. Students will be paired with an international organization to complete a virtual service project in small groups. Everyone will also participate in case studies, interactive discussions, and reflective practices each week. By the end of the course, students will have the resources and an action plan to continue engaging in service-learning in their home or campus community. This 2nd 8-week course will be offered as a combination of in-person instruction (if possible) and virtual exchange. The instruction will be synchronous. The course will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00-10:50 AM CST. One day each week will be in-person (if possible) and one day will be conducted virtually. Accommodations will be made for students who need to participate completely remotely. Please contact Ali Freter, freter1@illinois.edu for questions.
