Meets w/GWS 335 (CRN 36808, Sec. CC) This course will examine unconventional representations of gender and sexuality in current TV series and recent movies, as well as a few earlier films. We will use feminist and queer approaches to think about spectatorship, masculinity, transgender politics, the family, cult films and fan cultures. We will investigate how popular film and television can inform our understanding of gender and sexuality by following existing models and gesturing toward new possibilities.
