Section Info:
The purpose of this course is to introduce you to major concepts in Cognitive Psychology and then see how those concepts have been applied to questions concerning the processing of mediated messages. Concepts to be addressed include: Perception, Attention, Emotion, Memory, Priming and the Modeling of Dynamic Processes. Readings will come from both the Psychology and Media literatures.

Section Info:
Lab--based seminar and class studying best practices in participatory design, civic data research, and community data application and outreach. The class will engage new methods in blending qualitiative and quantitative data collection, assessment and visualization, to explore how diversified data collections can inform civic decision making, public policy, community engagement, and the design of infrastructures for public participation. During the semester, we will engage collaborations with local government, community groups, civic associations, and local civic stakeholders to build skills in collecting, assessing, evaluating and communicating insights drawn from diverse forms of data. Suitable for students pursuing professional and research-oriented careers.
