	69666	Lecture-Discussion	MSC	3:00PM -4:20PM	R	46 Grad Sch of Lib & Info Science	Diesner, J	Part of Term: 1 Date Range: 01/14/19-05/01/19 Credit: 1 hours Section Title: Seminar in AI and Social Compu Section Info: In this course, we study advances in social computing and computational social science, with a focus on social implications of AI, FATE (fairness, accountability, transparency, equity/ ethics), and mixed methods research and interdisciplinary work that combines theories from or applications in the social sciences with algorithmic, methodological, and technical work in natural language processing, network science, and machine learning. In this seminar, students discuss recent papers on these topics in depth, analyze the papers in the wider context of theories, methods, and findings from their fields, guide or lead discussions, and reflect on the discussed papers in the context of their own research. Exceptions can be made for advanced MS students who have a strong focus on research and as per instructor approval.
