In this seminar we consider contemporary research, conceptual frameworks, and policy that focus on the intersection of aging, families, and health. Readings and discussion will emphasize a variety of substantive topics such as the emotional/physical health of family caregivers, spousal/partner relationships and health in the later years, the impact of family structure (e.g., divorce, remarriage) on filial commitment, cultural/ethnic diversity in the caregiving experience, LBGT families and aging, elder abuse, etc. 2 credit hours
