Topic:Sex & Gender in Antiquity For Chancellor's Scholars; others may enroll with consent of instructor and Director of the Campus Honors Program. Understanding of the place of women in ancient societies can be gained through the examination of the ways in which the ancients conceptualized sex and gender. The myths, religion, art and literature of Egypt, Greece, Rome and the Near East contain a wide array of representations of men and women, of their emotions, as well as of their social, legal and political status and relations.

Section Info:
From the Great Pyramid to the Gardens of Babylon Students will discover the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the political, social, and environmental history of the peoples who created them. Students will study conceptions of “wonder” over time, the contest held from 2000-2007 to name the “New7Wonders,” and UNESCO world heritage sites, including Cahokia Mounds in St. Louis, Missouri.
