Full Title: Indigenous Social Work, Environmental Justice, and Health This course is open to any junior or senior across campus. The course is organized into five major themes: 1) understanding environmental change; 2) understanding indigenous peoples around the world, traditions and cultures; 3) understanding how environmental changes impact indigenous health and mental health; 4) mitigation and adaptation interventions at the international, national, state, and community levels; and 5) exploring alternative trauma treatment practices and policies for strengthening indigenous peoples’ adaptive capacity. Both indigenous and social work values and ethics will be presented for discussion.
Restriction(s):
Not intended for students with Freshman or Sophomore class standing. Restricted to Undergrad - Urbana-Champaign.
