This course guides sophomores to maximize their career development opportunities through active learning, reflection, and creative thinking on multiple pathways through the Illinois experience. Topics include understanding your purpose in college, finding your way through the many opportunities offered, what to do when you ‘get stuck,’ and how to tell your college and career-prep story. By the end of this course, students will have employed design-thinking methods to create three options to make the most of the experiences offered at Illinois, and will have developed skills necessary for adjusting options along the way.

The purpose of this course is to develop professional competencies for Liberal Arts & Sciences students planning to be engaged in a professional experience (internship, service learning, part-time job, etc.) during the Fall semester. The course is designed to prepare and support students during the professional experience. In the course, students will make connections between their academic goals, professional goals, and the professional experience. It is expected that students who join this course will have at least a 8 hours/week experience for 10 weeks over the Fall. Interested students need to contact bneig2@illinois.edu for enrollment consideration.
