Reviews major challenges in Italian grammar, with particular emphasis on the verb system (major tenses and moods, morphology, and aspect) and areas of contrast with English.

Prerequisite: Credit or concurrent enrollment in ITAL 104 or equivalent.

In Italian 210 you will improve your ability to understand, speak and write in Italian by reviewing and practicing the main grammatical structures of Italian. The course focuses on the practical aspects of grammar, hence on language use in all its levels. The review of the main grammatical categories and the linguistic analysis will be integrated with a large and varied selection of contemporary print, audio and visual texts that will provide intensive practice of grammar, but also growth in your knowledge of Italian society in a cultural and historical context. You will work on daily exercises of grammatical analysis and production at home and in class, and complete four in class tests, two short written compositions and an oral exam.
