Credit: 2 hours.
Laboratory course featuring experiments of primary interest to students who plan to carry out research in the physical, materials, analytical, theoretical and astro areas of Chemistry. Experiments include laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, ion cyclotron resonance (ICR) mass spectrometry, and low energy electron diffraction (LEED) and Auger spectroscopy. There are 4 experiments, each approximately 3 weeks in duration.
2 undergraduate hours. 2 graduate hours. Prerequisite: Credit for or concurrent registration in CHEM 440 or CHEM 442 or consent of instructor.
