Topic: Experimental Fashion. This course will focus on the exploration of fabric as a medium for designers, artists and performers within the context of the discipline of fashion. Students will be introduced to basic principles of bringing two dimensional materials into three-dimensional form through draping, pattern making, machine and hand sewing techniques. The elements and principles of design as they apply to fabric and the body will be the foundation for experimental works that explore fashion’s role in understanding, forming and presenting identity. Work from this course may be selected tol be presented the first Saturday in May at the Art + Design Re-Fashioned fashion show. This course has no prerequisites and is open to students from across the campus. This course meets in Noble Hall room 417.
