Credit: 3 hours.

This course explores ways of defining and documenting communicative competence for individuals with communication disorders in everyday interactions. It introduces students to theories of communication-in-context and methods of discourse analysis. Students will critically review research on discourse of individuals with communication disorders across the lifespan and discuss its relevance to clinical practice.

Prerequisite: Minimum sophomore standing or consent of instructor.
