Clinical Neuroscience
Section Info:
Delivers a rigorous treatment of human neuroanatomy and neurology. Covers detailed anatomy of the human nervous system, neurovasculature and ventricular system, basic cellular and molecular neuroscience, sensory and motor systems, integrative systems (homeostasis, memory, emotion, cognition), and disorders thereof. Students will have access to human brain specimens and interact with neurologists and neurosurgeons. Skills developed include interpretation of neuroradiological images and recognition of key neurological disorders based on associated lesions, clinical presentation, and pathophysiology. Offered concurrently to first-year medical students at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and well suited for graduate students and advanced undergraduates with an interest in clinical neuroscience research and/or neurology. *Note: Weekly problem-solving and discussion sessions held on most Fridays from 1-4 PM. Laboratory and clinical discussion sessions held intermittently throughout the semester. Please consult instructor for specific scheduling information. Undergraduates may register with instructor approval (jwbrown4@illinois.edu). This class meets in the Medical Sciences Building Library (1st Floor).
