Section Title:
Intro to Undergrad Mathematics
Section Info:
Have you ever wondered if there is math beyond Calculus? Do you want to see talks by distinguished math faculty, but worry that you don’t know enough math? Are you interested in learning about summer research experiences and study abroad opportunities? Would you like to meet other Math majors If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should register for Math 199! You could be a part of a pilot course designed specifically for math majors, discover what mathematics is actually like, and how to take advantage of all the opportunities our department has to offer. This 1-credit course will include approachable math talks by faculty members, informative graduate student panels, and practical professional development workshops. Among other things, you will learn about exciting areas of math like algebraic geometry, how to write a CV and apply to an REU, and what you can do with a math degree (anywhere from pursuing a PhD to working for industry).
Restriction(s):
Restricted to Mathematics or Math & Computer Science major(s).
