Students learn about sociolinguistic factors of language contact and change and about the structural characteristics of both historical and present-day varieties of German and Scandinavian languages in contact situations. The course is taught in English, though knowledge of German or a Scandinavian language is recommended. Students have the opportunity to engage with source material in their language(s) of expertise.
