Dialogues on Feminisim & Tech
Section Info:
This seminar investigates the intersections of technologies and gender. Students will engage with texts from feminist theory and from science and technologies studies (STS). This course will examine historical approaches about gender and technology with a primary focus on contemporary debates within technoscience. Some of the feminist theories addressed with include (but not limited to): liberal, socialist, radical, multicultural, and queer feminisms. STS theories will include (but not limited to): Actor Network Theory, Social Construction of Technology, and Symbolic Interactionism. No previous gender studies or technologies studies knowledge is required.
