Students will engage with texts from feminist theory and from science and technologies studies (STS). This course will examine historical approaches about gender and technology with a primary focus on contemporary debates within technoscience. Some of the feminist theories addressed with include (but not limited to): liberal, socialist, radical, multicultural, and queer feminisms. STS theories will include (but not limited to): Actor Network Theory, Social Construction of Technology, and Symbolic Interactionism. No previous gender studies or technologies studies knowledge is required.
