This advanced service-learning course provides a leadership opportunity to apply knowledge and skills acquired in the ICANEXSEL (Illinois-ChS&E Alliance for Nurturing Excellence in STEM Education and Leadership) program in order to manage and facilitate a STEM outreach program for diverse youth in Champaign-Urbana. Students will also work in teams to develop and implement projects to support engineering for social justice at Engineering at Illinois. The course includes coverage of advanced topics related to social justice and engineering, human-centered design, humanitarian and development engineering, ethical responsibilities in the profession, and critical frameworks for understanding grand challenges in engineering. Restricted to students in the Engineering for Social Justice Scholars Program who have completed ENG 398: Social Justice and STEM Education.
