Seeds of Terror/Media Arab Wrl
Section Info:
Course focuses on how and why Arab media create positive or negative images of the U.S in the Arab street, which in turn may increase or decrease terrorism attitudes and Anti-America behaviors. The course will examine criteria that differentiate Arab countries and affect coverage, including type of regime, location, economic resources, and regional and international relations, and will examine major themes such as the global war on terrorism, Arab-Israeli conflict, Sunni-Shia conflict, Arab Spring consequences, democracy and human rights, oil and weapons trade, and to a lesser extent struggles in Eastern Europe, East Asia, and climate change. No prerequisite courses or experience in Arabic language is required.
