Researching Black Families, Communities, and Neighborhoods

Credit: 4 hours.

A critical examination of social scientific approaches to the study of black families, communities, and neighborhoods. Students are introduced to the methodological, epistemological, and ethical challenges of conducting research on this population. The class will be a learning community working together through the research process from the development of a research problem to the dissemination of results.

4 graduate hours. No professional credit. Prerequisite: Graduate standing.
