TOPIC: Teaching Creative Digital Musicianship This two-week course provides advanced exploration and construction of digital learning environments, as well as exploring the computer as a musical instrument. Students will work alone and in teams to create curricular materials grounded by historical, philosophical, and research in technology and education. The course examines the cultures and creative musicianship of modern vernacular music genres including hip-hop, pop, and electronic dance music. Students in this course will compose, arrange, and improvise with a variety of digital music technologies and design related experiences for school music settings. Experiences will include work with notated and non-notated music, sampling and remixing, audio and MIDI recording, and performing with digital instruments.
