Title: Sexuality in African History. Topic: Scholars are paying increasing attention to emotional and corporeal aspects of African history such as love, affections and sexuality. In this course we will study new scholarship on heterosexual and same-sex cultures in 29th and 21st centruy African countries. We will read add discuss theis material both for its own sake and with the goal of reexamining accepted political narratives about gender and nationalism.
