A supplementary course in derivatives, it will explore individual cases (many of them major disasters) and particular sectors (energy, FX, fixed income). Assumes some basic familiarity with derivatives. We will make extensive use of the Margolis Market Information Lab (MIL) facilities, and several MIL training modules will be presented as part of the course. The course will meet in the Margolis Market Information Lab (1029 BIF).

Capital Funding for Growth Companies will provide students an understanding of the current capital market landscape, funding process and trends. This class will examine the range of middle-market companies’ capital requirements and objectives in relation to the available private equity and debt financing. Through specific examples, students will identify the appetites and expertise of middle-market investment banks and the skills and access to capital they provide their clients.

Investment Management Academy
Section Info:
This is an open forum series targeted toward students who wish to pursue future opportunities in investment management. Students will be exposed to basic business valuation tools and topics, and be able to better plan coursework for the duration of their undergraduate studies, be able to successfully interview with recruiters to become security analysts, as well as have the potential to make equity investments in a Student Managed Fund. Guest speakers who are investment professionals will be utilized to the extent possible, and may require additional attendance dates outside of the normal classroom hours.
