Microbial Ecology Methods
Section Info:
This course will briefly discuss experimental design, and will provide experience in techniques for sampling soil and rhizosphere microorganisms. Students will also be introduced to molecular biology techniques for characterizing environmental microbial populations and bioinformatics tools to aid in the interpretation of molecular biology data. Student preparation: Prior experience in microbiology, ecology, and biochemistry is helpful, however, introductory lectures will review the necessary principles of microbiology and molecular biology, providing a minimum background for the remainder of the course. This course is limited to graduate students who have permission of the instructor. The course will meet in C-319 Turner Hall.
