RST 199SS: Sport and Sustainability Professional, Olympic and intercollegiate sport has embraced increasingly influential positions supporting sustainability and environmental protection. RST 199SS is an online course which examines this issue from a multi-disciplinary perspective and encourages the development of personal perspectives on controversial topics, provide opportunities to examine the linkages found in nature and connecting economic systems, the environment, and the sport industry. Students will be exposed to sustainability models being embraced by leagues, teams, and events to increase revenues and reduce costs and analyze strategies managers implement to raise community awareness of social issues. Students will learn the principles of sales and promotion as they relate to recreation, sport and tourism. Techniques for setting sales objectives, communicating with clients, and promotion of programming, events and facilities will be discussed. Students will also learn the stages of the sales communication cycle and best-practices on how to develop a client base.
