Field trip fee may be assessed for some sections.

Taught by a practicing consulting forester, this course will provide students with an introduction to the theory and practice of controlling the establishment, composition, structure and growth of forests, with an emphasis on practical applications to forest ecosystems common to Illinois and the surrounding region. Topics will include stand dynamics and growth, regeneration methods, managing forests for non-timber objectives, and forest health and protection. There will be one optional day long field trip. Online scheduled class sessions require that each student have high speed internet access and either a headset with microphone or an external microphone and speakers so they may participate in the class discussions.
