Org Chem for Plant Sciences
Section Info:
An overview of the structure, properties, and reactions of carbon-containing compounds relevant to biological processes and cellular structure. The chemistry of hydro carbon, aromatic, as well as oxygen- nitrogen-, phosphorus-, and sulfur-containing compounds will be examined. Macromolecular structures including biological membranes, carbohydrates, proteins and nucleic acids will also be discussed. Course Information: Prerequisites: CHEM 102 and CHEM 104 or CHEM 202 and CHEM 204. Meets with CPSC 382 DPB. Additional course required for 499 credit. Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL) restrictions and assessments apply, see http://www.citl.illinois.edu. This section is for graduate students in the programs listed only. Undergraduates should take CPSC 382 in lieu of this section. Students will need a working external microphone/speakers or headset with microphone and reliable high-speed Internet.
