Register for CMN 396 with Grace H�bert to learn about how media literacy workshops can make a difference. You?ll get the chance to learn about media literacy and media effects, as well as design a media literacy workshop for middle school students. Video games have become one of the most popular forms of hobby activities and a billion dollar international industry. Whether the latest military-inspired shooter or online role-playing games, video games offer producers new ways to present information, tell stories, and represent social issues. In this class, students will learn about the historical emergence of this industry and the terminologies necessary for understanding video games as rhetorical objects. This course examines how the industry came to be, and the challenges designers faced when working with new game technologies.
