Credit: 4 hours.

The goal is to start the process of integrating all the foundation knowledge of generalist social work that students have learned and begin applying it to real life situations. Students will complete a portfolio and a service learning experience that will help them being to make the connection between the 10 core competencies, theories and applications to real life experiences. During this course students will begin the process of being matched with the agency where they will serve their internship during the last semester of their senior year.

In SOCW 461 Service Learning is a very important component. You will be required to do at least 2 hours of service learning a week for this class. It is important that we have actually scheduled class time for you to be able to accomplish this. You will meet face-to-face in the classroom on Mondays from 3:00-4:45 and have service learning time on Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00.
Restriction(s):
Not intended for students with Freshman or Sophomore class standing. Restricted to BSW: Social Work - UIUC.
