Section Info:
Critical Race Feminism. This is a seminar class exploring how critical race feminism can be used to inform our understanding of issues involving race and gender in the context of education and the legal system. Using an interdisciplinary approach of Black Studies, film studies, gender studies, history, and sociology, the course will examine the social construction of race, ethnicity, gender, and class, and the effect of those constructions on issues of social justice and equality in American society. The experiences of African-Americans, Latino/Latinas, Asian-Americans, and Native Americans will be examined with the objective of using critical race feminism as a vehicle for addressing institutional and structural injustice.
