Fall 2015 Part of Term 1

Part of Term 1
Aug 24-Dec 9

Credit: 2 hours.

Computer-based, spatially explicit models are useful for simulating the long-term dynamics and stability of complex ecological systems and can provide a basis for the development of tools for management support and policy advice. This course will build on landscape ecology principles and GIS skills to develop and analyze spatial ecological models. Emphasis will be on building and applying individual- and agent-based models to understand and predict how systems respond to environmental change.

2 graduate hours. No professional credit. Prerequisite: NRES 454, NRES 465, or equivalent. Graduate students only.
