Section Info:
This course is designed to strengthen your reading, speaking and writing skills in Italian through working with contemporary short (and enjoyable) Italian texts on issues that define Italian cultural history and current traits, and that represent Italian expressions with different communicative purposes and of different social groups. Every week a special topic will be assigned with relevant readings to complete at home. Through in depth analysis and discussion of readings and other audio-visual materials, and continuous practice of strategies in different styles and genres, you will explore new expressions of Italian, and improve your own abilities in producing different types of Italian texts. The main requirements consist of a) daily contribution in class discussions b) three short compositions c) one final paper of 5 pages on a special topic, and d) an oral exam.
