Credit: 4 hours.
Study of the control of thermal environment, mechanical and related building sub-systems, and their integration into the overall building design. The specific topics include: thermal comfort and behavioral implications; fundamentals of thermal behavior of buildings; the principles of heat and moisture in buildings; indoor air quality and "Sick Building Syndrome"; energy and sustainability implications of building design; and mechanical systems including HVAC and plumbing systems.
Prerequisite: ARCH 233.
Students must register for one lab and one lecture section.
