Directed and supervised investigation of selected topics in information studies that may include among others the social, political, and historical contexts of information creation and dissemination; computers and culture; information policy; community information systems; production, retrieval and evaluation of knowledge; computer-mediated communication.

Additional fees may apply. See Class Schedule. May be repeated. Prerequisite: For undergraduates, junior standing and LIS 202, or consent of instructor.

Class materials fee or field trip fee may be required.

Non-LIS graduuate students need Instructor permission to enroll (mwolske@illinois.edu / jongant@illinois.edu), but the expectation is prior experience with field of Community Informatics and/or Journalism demonstrated by successful completion of one of the following courses: LIS/INFO/MACS 202; LIS 418; LIS 451A4 or AL6; LIS 518; JOUR 415. 2 or 4 GR hours (be sure to enroll in your preferred credit amount)
