In addition the students will be exposed to the basics of mathematical modeling and statistical analysis of data, including the analysis of their research data. Exposure to the basic procedures comprising engineering communication and the importance of verbal and written communication will be emphasized. The Materials Science and Engineering department will provide the research project WITH A RESEARCH GROUP for students admitted into section UR1. PLEASE NOTE: Section UR1 is restricted to Materials Science and Engineering (MatSE) students with Junior or Senior academic standing. PERMISSION OF THE INSTRUCTOR IS REQUIRED. Restriction(s): Restricted to Materials Science & Engr major(s). Restricted to students with Junior or Senior class standing.

Section UR2 is open to any undergraduate student performing research for credit WITH A RESEARCH GROUP in the Materials Science and Engineering (MatSE) department. PLEASE NOTE: Students registered in this section will be responsible for identifying their own research project and research advisor.
